The motto of every Lions Club is We Serve. Whether helping the blind or hearing impaired...conducting drug or diabetes awareness campaigns...providing recreational opportunities for the handicapped...sponsoring basic research into the causes and treatment of blindness...providing children with sports equipment or just a place to play...or raising the funds to make it all possible, service always comes first for a Lion. That's why Lions Clubs International is not only the largest, but the most active service club organization in the world.

Lions are...or could be...someone just like you!

Lion's Golf is coming soon!

The Belvedere Golf Club will be hosting the tourny on July 9th!!!

LIONS CLUB AWARDS 2009 COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

On Monday, May 18th the four winners of the Charlevoix Lions Club’s annual youth college scholarships along with the two winners of the Charlevoix County Junior Golf League’s college-book scholarships were the honored guests of the club at the noon luncheon meeting at the “Weathervane”.

The some forty Lions, including Lion Chet Janik, Charlevoix School Superintendent and Lion Larry Levengood, former School Board Member, listened in awe and then applauded loudly when each of the six honorees gave short presentations of their future plans and answered club-member questions of their activities leading to their selections. Principal Klinger recounted the school records of each of the six honorees.

The three youth scholarship programs are only a part of the thirty plus beneficiary programs and projects that the Charlevoix Lions donate to from their various annual fundraising events, such as, The “Fine-Dining-Foodwagon” at the October “Applefest”; Christmas Tree sales in East Park; The golf tournament at “The Belvedere; “Venetian-Saturday Lions Chicken Barbecue”; “White Cane Safety Days”.

Along with Lions President Ron Moore, Charlevoix School District Superintendent Chet Janik and CHS Principal, Suzanne Klinger, left, are the six college bound Charlevoix High School seniors. winners of the Charlevoix Lions Club annual scholarship awards: Stewart “Irish” E. Coleman Scholarships, Tamara Potter, and Brock Yenglin; The two Don Meggison Community Service Awards, Marnie Greene and Michael Heckendorn; The Lions Junior Golf Book Scholarship, Tanner Fisher.
